It’s always a little tough getting back to work after a festive season break and although some people work all the way through December or at least sneak off from the family every now and then to check and respond to emails, most people have switched off for at least a short period over the festive season. Here’s how you can get ready for business in 2016 without taking out too much time of your holiday!

  1. Keep your hand in

It’s always a good idea to switch off from the stress and pressure of business. It gives us a chance to recharge and reset. However, at the back of your mind you should just keep thinking about new ideas for 2016, or ways to do things differently in your business. Read books that inspire, and publications related to your industry and most importantly, keep motivated to make 2016 a big one. By the time you’re back in the office, you’ll be ready and rearing to go!

  1. Start where you left off, and then some…

January is the ideal time to get ahead of the competition, and focus on the year to come. If there were deals you didn’t close in 2015, now is the time to see what you could’ve done differently and work towards closing them this year.

  1. Remember the last meeting of the year?

Keep in mind the items discussed and decided on during the last meeting you had with stakeholders, sales teams or clients and make sure you start implementing those ideas immediately. After a long break it’s easy to fall back into old habits and routines. So keep in mind what was discussed and start implementing the ideas from day one.

January is always a little slow as far as business goes, however this can be the perfect opportunity for you to get ahead of the game, provided you’re in the right frame of mind. Hit the ground running and good luck for 2016!
